ISPM 15 is the 'International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures Publication No. 15: Guidelines for regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade.'
ISPM 15 was developed to address the global spread of timber pests by regulating the movement of timber packing and dunnage in international trade. ISPM 15 describes phytosanitary measures to reduce the risk of the introduction and/or spread of quarantine pests associated with solid timber packing material (including dunnage). ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging materials like pallets, crates, dunnage, etc., requiring that they be debarked and then heat-treated or fumigated with methyl bromide and stamped or branded with a mark of compliance. This mark of compliance is colloquially known as the "wheat stamp."
